X GAMES WOMEN’S SLOPESTYLE FINALS

Following a firepower-filled first day, which you can read recaps of here and here, day two of X Games is underway here in beautiful Aspen, Colorado.

On the docket this morning was Women’s Slopestyle Finals, which saw eight of the world’s best showcase their ever-exciting and increasingly impressive level of skiing.

While a handful of the girls had somewhat of a tough time on the tight rail section, last year’s gold medalist, Maggie Voisin, greased them with little effort, and laid down back-to-back 900s and a double cork 10 to take third place.

In second was Olympic slopestyle gold medalist Sarah Hoefflin of Switzerland, who kept it tech on the rails, stylish on the first two jumps and laid down a double cork of her own on the money booter to score silver.

And in first, authoritatively so, was Estonia’s Kelly Sildaru, who less than 12 hours after scoring silver in Women’s Superpipe Finals, won her third X Games slopestyle gold medal with a Wallisch-eque showing on the rails, a cork 900 and back-to-back switch 1080s, which the judges deservingly awarded her a jaw-dropping score of 99.00 for.
