The event, which combined summer (skateboarding) and winter (snowboarding and skiing) sports via a scaffolding big air setup for the latter, saw some of the world’s top athletes make their way to the Land of the Midnight Sun to plunder like the Vikings.

On the skiing side of things, there was one discipline on the docket, big air, in which local favourite Birk Rudd scored his first X Games medal, and a gold one at that, on home turf.

Just behind him in second was the winningest big air skier in X Games history, Henrik ‘E-Dollo’ Harlaut, who took home his 10th X Games medal with an ever-present smile on his face.

And rounding out the podium in third was Olympic slopestyle gold medalist and hometown hero Oystein Braten, who finished the most successful season of his already illustrious career with his third X Games medal of the winter.
