SPEARHEAD HUTS OPEN FOR BOOKINGS

The Spearhead Huts Society is thrilled to announce the Kees and Claire Hut reservation software is now live for bookings. Final construction is ongoing throughout the summer and the hut is on track to open to the public on September 7th, 2019. The completion of the Kees and Claire Hut represents the realization of the first of three modern huts that link the iconic 40km Spearhead Traverse.

“The completion of this first hut is a huge accomplishment for our incredibly generous donors and volunteers,” said Jayson Faulkner, the Society’s President. “We look forward to seeing the public explore some of the most picturesque and dramatic terrain in the mountains around Whistler.”

Known worldwide as a classic ski route, the Spearhead Traverse starts at the Garibaldi Provincial Park boundary and unites the Fitzsimmons Range from the Whistler Mountain boundary around to the Spearhead Range at the edge of Blackcomb Mountain. The construction of this world-class hut system will provide a safe base for year-round adventure to skiers and hikers and will help reduce the adverse environmental impacts by the numerous people already recreating there.

The Kees and Claire Hut accommodates up to 38 people with a fully outfitted self-serve kitchen and large windows with wrap around views of the stunning Spearhead range. Guests can cook their own meals in Barbara’s Kitchen, relax in the Brett Carlson Lounge or watch the sunset from Roy’s Deck after a full day in the mountains. Bunk rooms comfortably sleep 4 to 8 people. Families and children can enjoy the Mischa Arnott Alpine Youth Room.
