Freshtival, the 14th annual freeski film festival from Fresh Skis, kicks off in Calgary, Alberta one week from today.
As Canada's longest-running freeski film festival, Freshtival never fails to disappoint, with skiers from all walks of life descending upon the Globe Cinema in the melting pot of snowsports enthusiasts that is Calgary to take in the finest films of the year.
This year's festivities consist of three nights of premieres, from Thursday, October 12th through Saturday, October 14th, with all-ages and adult-only (18+) shows, along with a few fun-filled extracurricular activities. The schedule is as follows...
In addition to the films, CAPOW (Canadian Powder Guiding) will be hosting not one, but two "Backcountry Re-Fresher" courses on Friday and Saturday at 4:30 p.m. in the Globe Cinema, with Friday consisting of a work clinic hosted by legendary guide Kevin Hjertaas, followed by a panel of pro skiers, guides and avalanche professionals pondering the increased level of interest in the backcountry and how to stay alive in the ski industry, while Saturday will offer a pre-season preparation clinic designed to start your season off right. Whether you're a backcountry enthusiast, or looking to venture beyond the ropes for your first time this winter, be sure to not to miss out on these incredibly informative events.
And of course, one it's almost all said and done, the Freshtival Après Party on Saturday night will surely shut things down in the most raucous way possible. Stay tuned for details.
