The completely redesigned Fischer Ranger 96 is a playful ski that’s ready, willing and able to tackle a variety of snow conditions. I found it to be a highly manoeuvrable and smooth-turning ski that performed best on days when there was a smaller accumulation of new snow, but as a result of its medium flex and wonderful wood/metal feel, offered exceptional grip throughout the entirety of fun and fast-trenched turns on firmer terrain. I would most recommend it to anyone from a strong intermediate to expert skier who’s looking for that elusive one-ski quiver, because the Ranger 96 is very much a classic all-mountain daily driver in every sense of the term. —PATRICK KINGHORN
