Trace Cooke is a Kootenay Kid at heart. Growing up in Nelson, B.C. and skiing at Whitewater has shaped who he is today. For most of his professional career, he’s been travelling around the world on the Freeride World Tour, but now he has come back home to rediscover the true meaning that skiing and his community bring to his life.

Trace chose the right season to stick close to home, as Whitewater Ski Resort has been receiving record snowfall, with over 300 centimetres of accumulation in January alone. The constant snow and cold temperatures have had locals saying this might be some of the best snow they can remember—and this community thrives on deep pow.
