Ascent – A Freeride Ski Documentary
Ascent is a short ski documentary filmed in Whistler, B.C. that follows the journey of Jérémie “J-Paq” Paquette from a devastating summer injury to a powerful return on snow. More than a ski film, Ascent is a story about commitment, patience and the mindset required to keep climbing when everything forces you to stop.
After a serious mountain bike crash left him sidelined for months, J-Paq was forced to step away from the mountains during what should have been another full winter of skiing. Rehab replaced powder days. The gym replaced chairlifts. Watching his friends ride while he couldn’t became the hardest part of all. Ascent documents that in-between space—the frustration, the doubt, the quiet work—and the slow rebuild that led to his comeback. From the first cautious turns back on snow to full-speed freeride lines and big mountain skiing, this film captures the climb back, both physically and mentally. This is not the end of the journey. It’s the beginning of the ascent.
Ascent is about the climb—not the destination. The mountain always asks more. And so do we.
