MOMENTUM SKI CAMPS CONTESTS

In case you missed the news, Momentum Camps is currently running not one, but two contests in which you can win your way to Whistler this summer, but don’t delay, because the deadline for both is Wednesday, May 15th.

The first is ladies only, as in conjunction with the Sarah Burke Foundation, Momentum is proudly bestowing the eighth annual Spirit of Sarah Scholarship to honour and remember the late and great Sarah Burke, who in addition to her many accolades, was a longtime camper and coach at Momentum.

The winner of the scholarship (past recipients have included Megan Oldham and Elena Gaskell, who went on to become members of the Canadian National Freestyle Ski Team) will score one full package camp to any youth session this summer, although ideally, you will want to attend Girls Week, which Sarah was instrumental in starting, and takes place during Session 5 on July 9th - 16th.

To enter, create a short video (no longer than five minutes), showing why you deserve to be awarded the scholarship, and email the link to info@momentumcamps.com. The presentation can include an interview with yourself and your references, such as your coaches, teachers, or anyone else you feel could be persuasive in helping you win the scholarship. It can also include action footage of skiing or other sports, be wildly creative, fun and funny, or simple and straightforward, with graphics, a voiceover, etc—the choice is yours! In addition to the above, Momentum is also on the hunt for a film intern via another contest, in which you can become a key part of Momentum... for the entire summer!

The winner will be awarded a summer internship from June 8th - July 16th, where you’ll work with top pro athletes and Momentum’s all-star marketing team to gain industry insight and further your filming and editing skills, all while having the time of your life in Whistler. The internship is unpaid, but will cover your food, lift passes and accommodation for five weeks in Whistler, with the exception of your travel to/from Whistler and food on days off. Plus on top of all that, you'll also score free entry into the Exposure Film + Photo Camp, which takes place during Session 4 on July 1st - 9th, where you'll learn the tricks of the trade from some of the ski industry's top professional filmers and photographers.

To enter, create a 60-90 second edit (with approximately 85% ski/snowboard action and 15% interview content) that profiles your favourite local ski hill character. It may be someone who inspires you, embodies the ski/snowboard culture at your home mountain, or possesses legendary status among your friends. Once you’re done, upload your edit to Youtube or Vimeo and email Momentum the link at info@momentumcamps.com, with the subject “Exposure Camp and Intern Contest”. The edits will then be judged on filming skills, editing skills and storyline, with all weighted equally, and creativity will also be rewarded. For more information on this contest, click here.
