LOW PRESSURE PODCAST - MIKE DOUGLAS
The Godfather of Freeskiing himself, Mike Douglas, recently returned to the Low Pressure Podcast for his first sit-down since the LPP’s inaugural season.
On top of being one of the most legendary figures in freeskiing, with too many achievements and accolades to list, Douglas is a passionate climate advocate who has been a board member of Protect Our Winters Canada since its inception four years ago, and has seen its membership grow to over 20,000 people. Six weeks ago, Douglas released a climate-focused film, Sam & Me, which documents his friendship with Sam Tierney, a 13-year-old who’s climate anxiety was so bad he was having trouble sleeping at night. In an attempt to ease his stress, Tierney wrote to Douglas asking for advice, and seeing his younger self in him, invited him on a weekly ski meet-up to talk about climate, skiing and life.
In addition to the above, Douglas also delves into the multiple shifts in ski media over the course of his 25-year career, how he’s learned to adapt his own production company, Switchback Entertainment, plus his thoughts on the Olympics, skiing in Japan, whether he’s too old to do another D-Spin, and much more.
