Intersection Crews & Judges Announced
The World Ski and Snowboard Festival (WSSF) is stoked to unveil the lineup for Intersection, presented by Arc’teryx. One of the festival’s most electrifying events, Intersection pushes filmmakers and athletes to their creative and physical limits, delivering high-energy, action-packed short films that embody the essence of mountain culture.

CREWS READY TO BATTLE
Competing teams will have four weeks to shoot, edit, and submit a five to seven-minute winter action sports film, all while vying for a $10,000 grand prize. With $5,000 for second place, $2,000 for third place, and the coveted People’s Choice Award, the stakes have never been higher.
Here are the six powerhouse teams bringing their vision, riding style, and filmmaking prowess to this year’s competition:

• Airtime – Led by Alex Claplin and Griffin Elsey, this collective of highly skilled athletes and passionate filmmakers blends high-energy action with cinematic storytelling.

• Baked Goods – Filmmakers and photographers Jeremy Allen and Shane Roy bring their expertise in storytelling, cinematography, and outdoor action sports photography.

• Friendly Fire – Led by Cam Keith, this crew of skiers and snowboarders rips across BC, from Revelstoke’s deep Selkirk pow to Whistler’s legendary backcountry—high vibes, no egos.

• Shmobb – Returning after a second-place finish in 2024, this tight-knit Whistler-based snowboarding crew, led by Caleb Chomlack, thrives on pushing each other’s limits.

• The Reserves – Winners of last year's Intersection, The Reserves, led by filmmaker Joey Kraft, is the crew you call when the crew you called first doesn’t answer, and consists of a bunch of friends who enjoy riding, beer, loud music and rock and roll.

• Wildcard: Buck Hunters – The Buck Hunters are a crew of boarders scattered through the Sea to Sky. Down for anything from street steel to a cheese wedge and everything in between. The crew consists of a few long time members as well as some new blood, but it feels like family.
Hosting the evening with her signature wit and charm is Katie Burrell—comedian, actor, director, screenwriter, influencer, and self-proclaimed “professional leisure athlete”.

MEET THE JUDGES
This year’s Intersection judging panel features some of the most respected names in the industry, bringing deep expertise in filmmaking, skiing, and snowboarding:
• Aaron Leyland – A veteran cinematographer with 20+ years of experience filming snowboarding and snowmobiling. A former Burton and Monster Energy staff cinematographer, Aaron is a multi-time X Games Real Snow and Real Moto medalist.
• Alex Armstrong – A professional big mountain skier with a background in ski racing and patrolling, known for her work in Blank Collective and TGR films.
• Ben Webb – An award-winning filmmaker for over 15 years whose previous works includes Red Bull, Transworld, Full Moon, King Snow, and The Man Boys.
• Claire Thompson – A former ski racer turned sports marketing professional at Arc’teryx, bringing industry knowledge and athlete insight to the judging panel.
• Jeff Schmuck – Editor of Forecast Ski Magazine, Canada’s premier ski publication, and a distinguished media figure in freeskiing. Jeff has been covering the industry for over 20 years, serving as Head Judge of the iF3 Film Festival for the past decade.

Intersection, presented by Arc’teryx, is a high-stakes competition where teams have just seven days to shoot, edit, and deliver a film that captures the raw energy of skiing and snowboarding. The films will premiere on Thursday, April 9, 2025, during the World Ski & Snowboard Festival in Whistler, BC.
