Unless you’ve been hiding in a snow cave for the better part of the past decade, you’re likely well versed in the lore that surrounds Sammy Carlson. The 30-year-old freeskier—who hails from Hood River, Oregon, but now calls Revelstoke, British Columbia, home—has churned out some of the most memorable film segments and competition performances since tips became twinned, and is regularly saluted as one of the best pillow skiers on the planet.
Along the way, Carlson’s name has been deservingly attached to an ever-growing number of pro model products. The latest and greatest is his Signature Series from Dakine, which includes a Team Heli Pro 24L Backpack and a Team Fillmore Trigger Mitt. The former features diagonal and a-frame ski carrying options, a fleece-lined goggle pocket, a back panel-accessed main cargo compartment and a front-access pocket designed to hold a shovel and snow tools. The latter includes breathable storm protection with a durable leather palm and a combination of high-loft insulation and soft fleece liner for warmth, with a trigger-finger design over a traditional mitt shape.
So for our final contest of volume four of Forecast, we’ve teamed up with Dakine and Carlson to offer you the chance to score these items. To enter, show Carlson you know how to strut your stuff in his natural habitat by uploading a photo or video of the best pillows you ski this winter to Instagram. Be sure to follow and tag @sammycarlson1, @dakine_ski and @forecastski in your post, along with the hashtag #pillowsforsammy. The incomparable Carlson will then peruse the entries himself to pick a winner, which we’ll announce in the spring. Good luck, and happy pillow popping!
