PIT VIPER SIGNS GLEN PLAKE

Sunglass and apparel manufacturer, Pit Viper, has announced their partnership with one of the world’s most iconic and most recognizable skiers, Glen Plake. Plake joins a growing list of trailblazing Pit Viper Key Players who buck the norms and push the boundaries in their sport, including Tanner Hall, Travis Pastrana, and Rob Gronkowski.

Glen Plake, widely recognized for his colorful array of mohawks, is a household name in the ski industry. The rebellious US Ski team member turned freeskiing icon is a US Ski & Snowboard Hall of Famer, ski movie staple, and Level 3 PSIA instructor and examiner. His list of accomplishments runs for miles, but simply put–Plake is a hot-dogging ski legend that has shaped the ski industry into what we know today.

A self-described lover of gasoline and gravity, Plake fits in well with the brand’s affinity for stunts, as well as its ethos of not taking life too seriously. “Glen Plake is the original radical of skiing, and the Godfather of being serious about not taking life too seriously,” commented Pit Viper team manager JP Gendron. “He has spent his life defying norms, pushing the limits, and evolving what it means to be a skier for every generation to follow, including many of us at Pit Viper. Combined with his wild style, immense kindness, and infectious laughter, Plake is the epitome of a Key Player. We're honored to have Glen and Kimberly join the Pit Viper family.”

No stranger to sponsorship deals and brand partnerships, Plake believes he’s finally met his perfect match with Pit Viper. “I’ve been liberated,” Plake commented on his partnership with the brand. “I’ve been stuck in a rut of not being who I want to be, and now I’m free,” he concluded.

Like many sponsorship agreements, Plake will not only act as a “Key Player” or ambassador for the brand and it’s products, but he will also be involved in product ideation and design. “I require technical products that work in the harshest environments in the world, while doing real activities,” Plake stated. “Sure you want to look cool, but it also has to work well. Because of all my varied interests, and history of working in R&D, the opportunity to help create new, test new, and have a voice in what people can wear is something that really intrigues me.” He continued, “I don’t want to create another, I want to create a new.”
