KAYA TURSKI ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT
Kaya Turski, the winningest female slopestyle skier in history, announced her retirement this morning in an interview with CBC.

Originally from Montreal, Turski represented Canada in the inaugural slopestlye event at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia, and is an eight-time X Games gold medalist and five-time AFP World Tour Women’s Slopestyle Champion. In addition to her trophy case, Turski is without question the biggest pioneer in women’s slopestyle skiing, having been the first female to land a switch 1080 in competition.

But after a decorated, historic and ground-breaking career, Turski has opted to bow out gracefully instead of making another Olympic push, largely due to the numerous injuries she’s been struggling with over the years, most notably chronic daily headaches, telling CBC that “my head is where I absolutely must draw the line.”
