GoPro's Third Annual GoShow Returns To Whister Blackcomb

Following the success of the first two years of GoPro's GoShow in Whistler Blackcomb, Round 3 is about to get underway. Beginning on May 18th, six Whistler-based athletes will be armed with GoPros and have three days to produce a short video that captures the best that Whistler has to offer in the spring. Once the filming and editing period has wrapped up, the athletes will present their offerings to the public and judges at the Garibaldi Lift Co. (GLC) on the evening of May 22nd, with the winner being crowned GoPro GoShow Champion and taking home the grand prize of $2,000.

Competitors Tasked With Capturing Spring In Whistler With GoPro For A Chance To Win $2000

WHISTLER, BC May 16, 2016 – Six athletes have been handpicked to compete in the third annual GoPro GoShow presented by Whistler Blackcomb on May 22. The competing athletes will be required to produce and submit a three to five minute video shot entirely using GoPro cameras. The videos must capture the essence of May in Whistler and need to include action shot on snow, dirt and water. Each athlete will be given a GoPro Hero 4 Black Edition Camera on the evening of May 18 and will be able to start filming their videos immediately. Completed videos must be submitted by 7:45am on May 22. Additionally, 25 per cent of the film must be shot on Whistler Blackcomb terrain and the remainder must be shot within the boundaries of the northernmost point of Pemberton and the southernmost point of Squamish.

“The GoPro GoShow presented by Whistler Blackcomb is all about showcasing the amazing spring season in Whistler,” says Chris McLeod, Industry, Film and Communications Supervisor at Whistler Blackcomb. “We have invited some extremely talented athletes from various disciplines to participate in this year’s contest and I am looking forward to seeing their creativity shine during this multisport season.”

Competitors in this year’s GoPro GoShow presented by Whistler Blackcomb will be:

Stan Rey – The defending title holder; Stan is a Whistler based freeskier.
Braden Dean – Whistler based professional snowboarder and BASE jumper.
Trish Bromley – Mountain bike athlete and coach.
Jesse Millen – Professional snowboarder originally from Timmins, Ontario.
Jarred Martin – Whistler based freeskier, who can be found ripping around Whistler Blackcomb's terrain parks, ski touring, or in town at the skate park.
Eric Poulin – A Saskatchewan native who grew making snowboard videos with his friends. 15 years later, now living in Whistler, not much has changed.

Each of the videos will be played in front of a panel of judges and a crowd at the Garibaldi Lift Co. (GLC) on May 22. The competitor whose video is awarded Best In Show by the judges will take home the $2000 grand prize and the title of GoPro GoShow Champion.

The GoPro GoShow presented by Whistler Blackcomb is free to attend with doors opening at 7pm and the show beginning at 8pm. An after party will follow.
