THE 2022 PEOPLE'S SKI TEST PREVIEW

Now that the latest and greatest gear is arriving in stores, Forecast is proud to present a way to help you determine which of this year’s skis may be the potential peanut butter to your jelly: our first-ever ski test.

Last spring, we assembled two teams of skiers at Red Mountain Resort in Rossland, B.C. and Revelstoke Mountain Resort in Revelstoke, B.C. to ski their hearts out on 36 pairs of planks from 12 brands.

But in an effort to mix it up, and in contrast to other ski tests, instead of giving them less than a week to ski on them, we gave them more than a month. And instead of selecting ski instructors, professional athletes or ski industry insiders as testers, we brought on 11 regular folks from all walks of life (alongside our duo of editors) who are passionate about skis and understand the differences and nuances between them, but like most of you reading this, work average, everyday jobs, and pay full price for their gear. The result? Honest, unbiased and relatable reviews by customers, for customers. Hence, The People’s Ski Test.

In addition to acting as an added and informative component to our 2022 Buyer’s Guide, which is now available in ski shops across Canada, over the course of the next month, we’ll be releasing an edit per day on each ski that was a part of the test, which will include video testimonials and POV footage from the skiers who reviewed them. Stay tuned for the first one, which drops on Monday, and be sure to pick up a copy of Issue 7.1 to learn more.
