Test Notes
Salomon’s Stance 96 is a no-nonsense ski that provided a traditional carver feel on groomed runs yet was nimble and lively off piste. From the topsheet to the core, Salomon has taken modern ski technology and stripped away the fluff to focus on the essentials. Simply put, this was a fun, predictable and reliable ski that performed well in a variety of conditions, and would be an ideal choice for intermediate to advanced skiers looking for a dependable daily driver for firm conditions and shallow pow. It may not be the fanciest-looking ski on the market, but it just works. With a narrower waist than I typically ride, I was surprised by how well it functioned in the softer, deeper snow I was fortunate enough to ski it in. However I found it really hit its stride on groomed runs and packed powder, where its traditional shape was an absolute delight to carve. —Jay Maloney

- Carves incredibly well on the groomed.
- Adapts well to various types of terrain and snow conditions.
Cons
- A tad narrow for super deep powder days.
- Expert skiers may prefer a slightly stiffer and/or wider ski.
