Test Notes
Before I even clicked into it, I appreciated that the construction of this ski is identical to its male counterpart. The women’s version simply comes in slightly different dimensions, lengths and graphics, which means the Head Kore 97 W is built to perform and stomp big landings, and the girls are here to throw down! This ski provided an energetic, lively release, and was incredibly easy to get comfortable on quickly. Its level of stiffness made it feel ready for some serious business, and it showed off its confidence while plowing through crud and maintaining stability in the steeps. The trend of brands constructing skis to be light, while maintaining stiffness, is growing, and Head’s line of Kore skis is built exceptionally well in that way. Clocking in at 1,740 grams per ski, the Kore 97 W proved its versatility, without sacrificing performance. There was very minimal chatter when I got up to speed on the hard pack, and it floated effortlessly on a 20-centimetre powder day. So whether you’re looking for one ski that can do it all in and outside the ropes, or a pure resort ripper, the Head Kore 97 W will not let you down. —Katie Spittlehouse
