I tested the Head Discovery 86 Pro—the widest offering in Head’s brand-new collection of all-mountain-focused skis—on spring days when it had rained the previous evening, frozen overnight and stayed cold throughout the day—and it delivered. Due to the bulletproof snow I skied it on, I kept things on piste, and it performed exactly as advertised by being easy to lay down both short and long radius turns and handling the firm conditions with precision and stability. I found it to be extremely solid and versatile at all speeds, as it provided me with the refreshing ability to relax while skiing slowly, or push things at a faster pace, which allowed me to get the most out of this impressively adaptable ski.
