I wasn’t sure what to expect when I dropped into my first run on this noticeably stiff ski: a rained-on, re-frozen, skating rink of a groomer. But to my surprise and delight, not only did it hook up—it cut in like a scalpel. After that, the doctor was in, and the diagnosis was pure addiction. Scott has created a true all-mountain monster with the Pure Mission 98 Ti. Thanks to a super stiff carbon flex and titanium insert underfoot, it could handle anything I would want to throw at it. I like to lay down hard, fast carves, and this ski locked in and blasted through all kinds of nasty while maintaining one of the smoothest turns around. In the off-piste rhubarb it was a precise, agile and lightweight weapon, and provided a stable, damp platform that just kept on delivering. Sure, you might want something wider when it gets a bit deeper, but for me, the Pure Mission 98 Ti was an ideal daily driver for bell-to-bell chairlift laps. —DYLAN STRELIOFF
