The more I think about the Salomon QST Stella 106, the more I want to compare her to the “good time gal.” Let’s call her Stella. Stella’s ideal first date would be a 10-to-15-centimetre pow day, and while she would happily take more, she doesn’t need to be greedy to have fun. As the day goes on, and more of the powder becomes tracked out, Stella doesn’t care, because she handles the whole mountain and changing conditions with ease. Dust on Crust? She’ll ski it. Slush? Eats it for breakfast. Over five inches of fresh snow? She’s down. Stella is light on her feet, super responsive and never misses a turn. And she doesn’t discriminate. From a beginner looking to progress, to a veteran skier, Stella will happily join you for the ride. She’s an all-around great girl that you can take anywhere and have a blast. Oh yeah, and Stella is decked out in some awesome vintage apparel, and doesn’t need a retro day to show off. —KATE VERHAGEN
