As much as we would all love to ski fresh tracks all day, every day, the reality is, if you want to get after it, some days you’re going to be crushing pre-loved pow. And that’s exactly where the Faction Prodigy 3 shines. While the tip did get pushed around a little in heavy or crusty snow, the ample rocker allowed it to make for a capable pow ski. And I can’t stress enough how much fun it was to pop. Boosting off every mogul and slashing every pocket I could find, I had fun on this ski for days after a storm. With the versatility of an all-mountain ski, the Prodigy 3 holds a distinct edge on the more playful side of freeride, and will provide ample rewards to anyone skiing off piste who has a couple of park tricks up their sleeve. —JOHN TRUDEN
