It’s hard to put into words just how much I loved the Dynastar M-Free 99, as it’s one of the most dependable and versatile pair of planks that I’ve had the joy of clicking into. From the groomed, to bumps, trees or steeps, and whether it was soft, chopped, crud or ice, this ski gracefully manhandled everything in front of it. And while its 99-millimetre waist is a tad too narrow to consider it a powder ski, it somehow felt wider than it is in both untouched and previously enjoyed pow. But above all else, I enjoyed it on groomers and in glades, as it was quick to pivot, nimble but stable, and had an effective edge hold that, outside of a race ski, felt second-to-none. The M-Free 99 is as true of an all-mountain ski as you could hope to find, and will much more likely than not satisfy all comers. So whether you’re an intermediate, advanced or expert skier, consider this jack-of-all-trades-style tool. It may end up being all you need. —JEFF SCHMUCK
