Fischer is no stranger to making fast planks, and the brand’s race heritage shines through in this hot rod of a ski. As expected, The Curv GT 85 railed groomers at ridiculous speeds, but what surprised me was how smoothly it did so. With a 15-metre radius that bridges the gap between a longer GS radius and a shorter, slalom-like shape, this ski has the adaptability to shift between arcing long, graceful carves and short, snappy turns with buttery smoothness. Something that separates it from a more traditional race ski and gears it more toward a recreational speed machine is its width at 85 millimetres underfoot. This gives the ski a larger, more solid-feeling platform while getting rid of the twitchiness that can be found in some dedicated race skis, and allows for versatility in mixed snow conditions. You wouldn’t want to ski any overly deep snow with it, but it busted through frozen crud and bumps with ease. So if you love skiing fast and laying down deep trenches on the hard pack, The Curv will most certainly satisfy your need for speed. —Dylan Strelioff
