I began testing the Elan Ripstick 94 W Black Edition on icy groomers, and after a short breaking-in period, it just kept feeling more and more natural and intuitive with every run. “Poppy” and “zippy” were the first words that came to mind—every turn gave me a little boost and burst of energy out of the corner. Run after run, I had that same feeling of pure enjoyment, with a big smile included. On one of Red Mountain Resort’s most beloved groomers, Back Trail, it was smooth, fast and came alive the more I opened it up. It was quick, responsive and easy to stay centred in the bumps, and in the trees and steeps of Booty’s, it felt dependable and confidence-inspiring. It handled everything I threw at, but I will be most excited to reach for this ski on the next groomer day. —Jennifer McLean
