Dynastar’s M-Free 99 really surprised me, in the best way possible, as this ski could do way more than I admittedly thought it would be able to. As I did initially expect, it performed perfectly on the groomers, laying down smooth carves and crushing any sort of crud in my way. But what surprised me the most was how well it skied off-piste. With its wide tip and tail rocker, this ski felt much more stable than 99-millimetres underfoot, and was able to float through shallow powder with ease. And I loved how playful and nimble it felt. As someone who is only 5’8” and 150 pounds, I wouldn’t normally ride a 185-centimetre length ski with just 99 millimetres underfoot, as it could feel like too much ski for the terrain. But the M-Free 99 proved to be light and fun on every run, regardless of where I took it. —Gavin Andison
