I don’t know what kind of voodoo Atomic performed on the Maverick 96 CTI to keep it so light but still stiff and snappy at the same time. I clicked into this ski and literally started dancing down the mountain. It was fast, agile, resilient and a lot of fun. For being such a light ski I could still pound it in-bounds with full confidence—it held up and delivered. At 96-millimetres underfoot, it’s a true all-mountain daily driver. It allowed me to ski moderate pow in the steeps, and crank groomer arcs all the way back to the chair. Atomic’s race heritage really came through on the hardpack, where it hooked an edge with ease and really dug in. But for me, this ski really shined in the bumps and trees, where its weight allowed me to jump around and stick the skis wherever I needed to. Heavier skiers may feel this ski is too lightweight, but being that I’m not a big guy, I found its feathery nature to be a real advantage. —Dylan Strelioff
