Atomic’s Maverick 105 CTI is as sturdy and playful as a stunt plane. In challenging snow conditions, it helped me maintain form, speed and control, while in fresh snow, it really came alive and my smile grew two sizes right away. It floated from edge-to-edge with ease, and when I needed to clear a trough and get to a comfortable landing spot with a good transition, this ski’s responsive tip gave me that extra bit of air time to land and ski away with control and predictability. Its playfulness and responsiveness really came in handy on the last section of my final run of the season, which turned into an extremely close quarters group shred with roughly 80 fellow skiers and snowboarders bobbing and weaving down a cat track, hitting booters, and finishing with one of the best group pond skims I’ve ever been a part of. And I couldn’t have been happier to cap off the winter on the Maverick. —Mike Flood
