I tested the Atomic Maven 94 CTI in a 172-centimetre length and found it to be smooth, intuitive, and confidence-inspiring—especially while performing short to medium-radius turns in low-angle moguls and tight trees. Its softer flex and light weight make it a super approachable option for beginner to intermediate skiers. It was stable at moderate speeds on groomers, but did chatter on firmer snow. It required finesse in the steeps and crud, but stayed predictable, and floated reasonably well in powder thanks to its updated HRZN tip. While not built for high-speed charging, the Maven is agile and forgiving, and ideal for female skiers who are looking to grow their skills. —Jennifer McLean
