The Atomic Maven 103 CTI was distinct from the first lap I skied it. With a stiffer build, I found myself comfortably charging through varied conditions without batting an eye. Its anchored stability allowed for an aggressive forward stance, which I find myself favouring over a more playful ski. The 178-centimetre length was ideal for me, so when I was in the front of my boots, I didn’t feel like I was hanging over the tips. The Maven rides like a true all-mountain ski. It was incredibly fun on groomers, where it held long, sweeping turns. But my favourite place to ski it was in wide-open, steep, off-piste slopes covered in powder or chop, where I could really charge and let this ski’s longer turning radius shine. The Maven 103 would be a great choice for an advanced female skier who wants a ski to take everywhere, no matter the conditions, with an extra touch of aggression. —Jenna Williamson
