Armada has beautifully made a playful freeride powder ski that can do it all, particularly if you’re a west coaster like myself. The ARV 112 is not overly stiff nor soft, and was a killer in the powder. It allowed me to pop off whatever I wanted without sacrificing too much maneuverability, but still held speed and cooked when that open powder face appeared. The twin-tip and rocker on this ski helped me dart through tight trees safely when I needed to keep things in check, and its wide turn radius had me cruising groomers and crushing chop past folks who were struggling to make their way back to the chair. Avoid icy conditions on the ARV, but grab it when the snow is soft, weather is forecasted, or post-storm conditions are on the menu and you want to feel like a gangster while smashing pillow lines and steep fluffy chutes. —Jack Lesnik
