FORECAST ISSUE 5.3 PREVIEW

Now that the lifts are turning, it’s time for a look at the third and final issue of the fifth volume of Forecast, which is arriving at ski shops and newsstands across Canada this week.

First up, in an effort to do something different, the cover comes to us from Kari Medig, who snapped this simple but artistic shot outside of Thunderhill Ski Area in Manitoba...

Here’s a preview of what’s inside…

2020 ACCESSORY GUIDE
Deck the halls with boughs of accessories. Santa’s descent down your chimney is imminent, so after showing off the finest skis, boots, bindings and outerwear of the season, it’s now time for a gander at the gear that will help you tie a big ol’ Christmas bow on your setup.

URBAN SKI TOURING
When we talk about urban skiing, we don’t usually mean backcountry—unless you live in Vancouver. Take a trip above the city skyline in one of the few metropolises in the world where you can ride the city bus to your stash, break trail above the ocean, and imbibe in the beaming cultural energy of the big smoke by night.

THE PHOTO ANNUAL
If a picture is worth a thousand words, then consider this collection of our favourite photos of the year our personal version of War and Peace.

In addition to the above, Cassie Sharpe candidly and bravely discusses the expected highs but unseen lows of winning an Olympic gold medal, Riley Leboe gets reflective at Mustang Powder on New Year’s Eve with Sam Kuch and Jonathan Rollins, and up-and-comer Etienne “Itchy” Geoffroy chats about his past, present and future. We also delve into the making of Blank Collective Films’ latest movie, The 7 Stages of Blank, showcase how and why history helps makes Castle Mountain Resort such an unsung gem, and team up with Sam Kuch to offer you the chance to win a pair of Head Kore 105s.
