WIN FREE SKIS FROM HEAD AND SAM KUCH!

There’s a line at the beginning of Matchstick Productions’ new movie, Return To Send’er, that encapsulates the skyrocketing rise to stardom of Nelson, British Columbia’s Sam Kuch: “Chances are, you’ve never heard of Sam Kuch. But you’re going to want to remember the name. Because this 21-year-old is a harbinger of skiing’s future.”

After announcing his arrival to the world last fall in our very own video series, Beyond The Powder Highway— which won him Discovery of the Year at last year’s iF3 Festival—Kuch went on to shoot for Matchstick Productions and Blank Collective Films’ latest offerings, which are currently available online. The result is a series of stunning segments that's left most viewers at a loss for words, in which this relatively unknown skier raised the bar on what’s possible in big mountain settings, turning himself into somewhat of an overnight sensation in the process. Case in point: for his debut performance in a feature-length film, he was crowned Skier of the Year at the High Five Festival in October, and honoured with Best Male Freeride Segment at the iF3 Movie Awards two weeks later.

Sensing he was something special before the rest of the ski world caught wind of him, Head hopped on the Kuch hype train early, and have been supporting him since 2006. So, in celebration of his abilities and recent accolades, we’ve decided to team up with Kuch and Head for our final contest of the year, in which you can score a pair of the planks that have helped the humble Kootenay kid fast track his way to becoming a household name: the Head Kore 105.

To enter for your chance to win, take advantage of the lifts that are now turning to snap a photo or video of your best cliff drop this winter, then upload it to Instagram and follow and tag @samkuch_, @head_freeskiing and @forecastski in your post, along with the hashtags #tothekore and #tothekuch. Kuch, who’s obviously quite the cliff dropper himself, will then check out the entries to pick the winner, which we’ll announce mid-winter. Good luck!
